General Inquiries

Q. How do I buy a car from Autobest?

Prior registration is required. So, the first step is to register with us. After registration is completed, you can choose your preference from our stock list, or let us know what you have in mind.

Q. What payment method does Autobest accept?
  • T.T:Telegraphic Transfer:This is the best way to electronically transfer your deposit and final payment to us.
  • L/C: Letter of Credit:This is a payment method using your bank to secure payment with us.
  • We accept Letters of Credit paid at sight.Please contact your bank for more information.
Q. How long does it take to receive my car?

Once your payment is received the vehicle will be booked for the next available vessel to your destination. If the shipment is scheduled on roll-on roll-off (RORO), vessels are generally available - at least 1-2 ships a month. Container shipments are weekly based. Please refer to the shipment schedule by contacting a sales representative.

Q. Confirmation of vehicle/reservation
  • Usually, a vehicle is reserved for five (5) business days. If we do not receive payment within the reservation period, we release the vehicle for sale.
  • On receipt of complete payment, we will send you all the documents by a reputed international express courier.
  • We accept the follow methods of payments: T/T (Telegraphic Transfers), L/C (Letters Of Credit). Please mention the Invoice Number for each transaction.
Q. Do you inspect the cars before shipping?

Yes of course. All cars are thoroughly inspected to confirm that there is no difference between the actual specifications and those on the specification sheet. We could also provide you with an inspection certificate for clear and transparent level of certification of the vehicle for an added cost by government appointed agencies.

Q. Is there way to know an indicative bidding price for a vehicle I am interested in at an auction?

Yes, the data from recent auctions will be a good source of information. It indicates the prices of vehicles that have been sold over the last 3 months. Contact our representative for the comprehensive pricing.

Q. Shipping Terms
  • FOB: Freight-On-Board/Free-On-Board. This is the cost of the vehicle excluding shipping freight charges.
  • Freight Prepaid - Freight will be paid in Japan by the exporter.
  • Freight Collect - Freight will be paid by the customer at destination port.
  • CIF: Cost, Insurance and Freight. This is the cost of the vehicle including shipping and insurance.
  • C & F: Cost and Freight. This is the cost of the vehicle including shipping.

🚗 Vehicle Auctions & Buying Process

Q. How do i buy a car from Japan through Autobest?

You select a vehicle or request us to bid at auction. We inspect available data, place bids on your behalf, and once successful, proceed with payment and shipping.

Q. Are auction vehicles reliable?

Most vehicles are used and sold through auctions. They may have wear, repairs, or minor defects. We provide inspection reports, live video proof, but vehicles are sold as-is.

Q. Can i request specific vehicles from auctions?

Yes, you can send us your requirements (make, model, budget), and we will search and bid for you.

Q. What is an auction grade?

Auction grade is a condition rating given by inspectors in Japan (e.g., Grade 4, 3.5, R). It helps estimate the vehicle’s condition but is not a guarantee.

 

Q. What is your payment policy?
  1. 50% advance deposit before auction bidding
  2. Remaining balance after shipment confirmation
Q. Can i cancel my order before auction?

Yes. If you cancel at least 10 minutes before auction start, your deposit is fully refundable after deducting bank and transaction charges.

Q. What happens if i cancel after the car is purchased?

Once a vehicle is successfully purchased:

  1. Auction fees
  2. Cancellation penalties
  3. Administrative costs

will be deducted before refund.

Q. Can i keep my deposit for another vehicle instead of a refund?

Yes. You can choose to transfer your deposit to your next purchase without losing value (excluding already incurred charges).

Q. How long does it take to receive a refund?

Refunds are usually processed within 3–7 business days, depending on banking systems.

Q. Are bank charges included in the price?

No. All bank transfer and transaction fees must be paid by the customer.

🚢 Shipping & Delivery

Q. How long does shipping take?

Shipping usually takes:

  1. Asia: 2–4 weeks
  2. Africa: 4–8 weeks
  3. Caribbean: 5–9 weeks

(depending on destination and shipping schedule)

Q. When does ownership/risk transfer to me?

Risk transfers once the vehicle is handed over to the shipping carrier in Japan.

Q. Is shipping insurance included?

No. We strongly recommend purchasing marine insurance to cover damage or loss during transit.

Q. What documents will i receive?

After full payment, you will receive:

  1. Bill of Lading (B/L)
  2. Export Certificate
  3. Invoice
  4. Inspection certificate (if applicable)
Q. What if the vehicle is damaged during shipping?

Shipping is handled by third-party carriers. Claims must be made through the shipping company or insurance provider.

Q. Can i import any car to my country?

No. Each country has rules on:

  1. Vehicle age
  2. Emissions
  3. Left-hand/right-hand drive

You must check your country’s import regulations before purchase.

Q. Who pays import duties and taxes?

All import duties, taxes, and clearance fees are the buyer’s responsibility.

Q. What happens if my car is not allowed into my country?

Auto Best is not responsible for import rejection. All costs (including storage or return) are borne by the customer.

Q. Do i need to service the car after receiving it?

We will inspect the vehicle and make it ready to drive as soon as landed. But, you should:

  1. Check engine oil
  2. Check coolant
  3. Inspect battery and tires

before driving. For safer & smoother experience.

Q. Can Autobest guarantee the condition of the vehicle?

No. All vehicles are sold as-is, especially auction vehicles.
